I just thought i'd do a college update :) For next fall, I'm officially enrolled as a Freshman at the Rhode Island School of Design. :D After completing Foundation Year I'll be in the 5-year Bachelor of Architecture Program, and I'll hopefully be doing semesters abroad in Rome and Zürich. :D RISD has always been my dream art school, but I never thought it would be possible because of money reasons. I ended up getting a 50,000 scholarship and though that is only a small part of the total price, I'm working about 30 hours a week through the summers, I've won a few scholarships at art shows, sold some work, and.. well, it's going to be pr

Hi there. I stumbled upon your work (which is freaking amazing by the way...) while browsing DA.. and I noticed that you're at RISD! I'm thinking of applying there for film. Know anything about the film scene there? :P
hi.
I'm going to be a RISD freshman as of next fall. I thought I'd check out dA to see if I can find any current students...so yeah. Hello. :)

I'm super excited to start - I hear the classes are a ton of work but that it's totally fun & worth it.

Anyways, that's really all I have to say. Feel free to continue going about your day...
Hello!! So I'm applying to RISD for next fall, and I'm really intimidated by the three drawings we have to do for the application process--I don't have much time to finish all three drawings (barely a week) simply because I've felt too intimidated to make a decision on whether to apply or not. X]] Any suggestions or tips?

Thank you so much! Yeah, it was such a last minute decision, but I'm hoping my portfolio and grades will make up for my essay and three drawings. X]] Haha, I decided to draw a tree with a house on its shoulder, riding a bicycle actually (haha, with the title "moving day" because of the tree house)--kinda out there, but my teacher told me not to be afraid of that. Again, than you so much for replying!! Haha, when I get to the next two pics, I'll let you know! I still have no idea what to do for the double sided paper and the third drawing too. X]
ps. when i say "people aren't nearly as talented"--that's all relative. i know students who came here last fall with no clue how to draw, but you taught them the basics and suddenly you see they have the most incredible eye for design or pattern or 3d, and now they're going into textiles or interior architecture or something. a lot of people forget about majors other than lets say, illustration, and think the evaluation criteria is just on skills such as drawing. it's more about your eye, because risd doesn't ask you to declare a major yet, and the possibilities at this art school really are wide open. it's great and i love it here :)
